Coffeyville - Clara Adeena "Dee" Colwell, 104, of rural Edna, passed away, Monday, March 7, 2011 at her daughter's home. She was born February 20, 1907, northeast of Burlington, KS to John Jacob and Amanda Pearl (Williamson) Knoblock. Dee grew up and attending school in the Patmos community northeast of Burlington. On April 15, 1927, she married William Virgil Colwell at Wynona, OK. Following their marriage they made various towns in Oklahoma and Kansas where her husband was a driller in the oil fields. Her husband preceded her in death in 1965. Prior to her marriage Dee worked at the Seymore Egg Packing Co. in Burlington, later in her life after her children were older she worked at a Boat Mfg Co. in Iola, and the Glenn Berry Garment Co. in Osewgo. She moved to the Edna area to be closer to her family in 1991. Dee was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved spending time outdoors working in her garden, and watching nature, enjoyed knitting, and sewing, and cherished spending time with her family. Survivors include one son, Virgil Colwell of rural Edna; two daughters, Helen Johnson and husband Earl of rural Edna, and Donna Pritchett and husband Carl of Nowata, OK; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and nineteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, one sister, and one grandson, Chad D. Johnson. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Coffeyville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 707 Fresno, Coffeyville, with Gene Smerchek presiding. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, in the Graceland Cemetery at Burlington, KS. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Coffeyville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
