Coffeyville - Joe E. Brinker, 88, of rural Wann, OK, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Joe Estel Brinker was born September, 30, 1925 to Clarence and Eva (McMillan) Brinker in the rural area of Nowata, OK. He grew up and attended school in the rural Nowata and Wann area. He helped farm with his family in the Nowata and Noxie area, which he truly enjoyed. He also raised and trained several horses, his favorite was named "Silver". Joe was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from December 21, 1943, until he was injured and was Honorably Discharged January 12, 1945. In 1947, he married Emmalee Folk. Following their marriage they made their home in the Noxie area. She preceded him in death in July 1992. He remarried in July of 1993 to Glendene Dennis, they made their home in Claremore, OK. She preceded him in death in January 2011. Joe had several jobs which included working on area ranches, Continental Can, Jensen Mfg., and Funk Mfg. He retired from Funk Mfg. in 1988. After retiring Joe enjoyed spending time fishing and doing woodworking projects. Joe was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. He was on several church building teams, traveling with these groups to areas in several states helping to construct new churches. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Dickson and husband Greg of rural Wann, OK; two grandsons, Nathan Dickson of rural Wann, OK, and Jason Dickson of rural Niotaze, KS; two great-grandchildren, Emmalee Dickson, and Tanner Dickson both of rural Wann, OK; one sister, Dorothy Ward of rural Wann, OK; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ronald, Roy, Wayne, and Bill; and two sisters, Janey Powell, and Doris Jean Brinker. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Steve Cody officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
