Rosie Garretson, 88, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
She was born December 2, 1925, at Coffeyville to James and Lucy (Peyton) Bartlett. Rosie grew up and attended school at Mound Valley, Ks.
On July 25, 1950 she married Loyal Garretson at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in the Mound Valley and Liberty area until moving to Coffeyville in June 1972. Her husband preceded her in death on December 16, 1989.
Rosie was a active member of the Salvation Army in Coffeyville. When she was young she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley. She loved working with the Salvation Army and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one son, Larry Garretson of Coffeyville; three daughters, Cheryl Miller and husband Richard of Coffeyville, Connie Maritt of and husband David of Coffeyville, and Colleen VanDorn and husband Mike of South Carolina; one sister, Helen McDill and husband Jerry of South Coffeyville, OK; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Garretson; two daughters, Lola Mae Garretson, and Evelyn Marie Garretson; one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley, KS with Chaplain Mike Graham officiating.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
