Merriel Ray Taylor, Sr., 86, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Windsor Place Assisted Living in Coffeyville.
He was born September 10, 1924 at Huntington, WV, to Okie and Ella Mae (Raines) Taylor. He grew up and attended school in Huntington.
Mr. Taylor was a veteran of three wars, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of MSGT / E7.
He was a member of the Elks, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Merriel Ray Taylor, Jr. of Viola, KS, and Daniel Lee Taylor of Yakima, WA; four sisters, Pat Miesner of Coffeyville, Francis Sanders of Davenport, IA, Nancy Maddox of Fort Smith, AR, and Alma Sue Lee of Fort Smith, AR; two brothers, Donny Taylor and Paul Taylor bother of Napa, ID; and three grandchildren.
Following Mr. Taylor's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the next family reunion.
