William "Bill" LaFore Russell Bailey, 61, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his residence in Sedan.
He was born on February 22, 1949 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to William Edward Bailey and Betty Jeanne Stiles. He attended school in Caney graduating from Caney High School in 1968. After high school he graduated from Independence Community College with degrees in Music and Mathematics. After his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army serving until he was honorably discharged in 1972.
On December 23, 1971 he married Linda M. Wilson in Peru, Kansas. She survives of the home. He worked as a self employed construction worker until he was disabled.
He attended Calvary Community Church in Bowring, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, bass guitar, and saxophone and teaching music in Independence.
He is survived by his wife Linda Bailey of the home; two sons, William Clayton Bailey of Independence, Kansas and Peter James and wife Brandy Bailey of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one brother, Paul and wife Peggy Bailey of Neosho, Missouri; one sister, Ethelda and husband Richard Burkhart of Neosho, Missouri; half sister, Sonya Twitchell of Tyro, Kansas; two stepsisters, Patty Stoutgenburger, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and Martha Campbell of Skiatook, Oklahoma; one stepbrother, Bobby Bush; one granddaughter, Ava Claire Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and left behind many other friends and family.
The family has suggested the casket to be closed.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peru Cemetery in Peru with Reverend Bill Long officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice Care of Kansas and remembrances may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
