William Allan "Bill" Bartusek, 72, of Caney, passed away Saturday morning (January 26, 2008) at the Jane Phillips Medical Center Continuous Care Unit in Bartlesville, OK.
He was born July 1, 1935 at Wahoo, Nebraska to Jerry and Clara (Kracman) Bartusek. He grew up and attended school in Wahoo, graduating from Wahoo High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army.
In May 1957 he married Patricia Ann Stumbo. Following their marriage they lived in the Olathe and Kansas City area. They had three children, Scott, Chris, and Missy. They were later divorced.
On September 29, 1977 he married Ila (Thurman) Gregg at Caney. Following their marriage they made their home in Caney where they owned and operated B & I Sales, selling jewelry, shirts, and novelty items to many stores in southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma.
Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caney and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Ila of the home; two sons, Scott Bartusek of Denver, CO, and Chris Bartusek of Olathe, KS; one daughter, Patricia "Missy" Jay of Springdale, AR; Ila's two daughters, Debra Keller of Newport, OR, and Tammy Robinson of Waldport, OR; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (January 29, 2008) in the First Baptist Church in Caney with Pastor Dan DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Caney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Church in Caney.
The family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
