Coffeyville - Bob (Robert Lee) Campbell, 75, of Coffeyville, died Monday (January, 31, 2011) at his home after a short illness. Robert Lee Campbell was born June 3, 1935 at Morley, Missouri to Raymond "Pete" and Anna Kirby Campbell. Bob graduated from Bell City Missouri High School in 1953. After an injury ended his professional baseball career with the Baltimore Orioles, Bob relocated to Coffeyville. He married Joan Marie Hurst on November 23, 1955 and they made their home in Coffeyville, KS. His wife of 43 years preceded him in death on August 13, 1998. Bob continued his love of sports after moving to Coffeyville playing baseball with the Ban Johnson Refiners, Industrial League softball for the Coffeyville Canners, Continental Can, Page Milk and Church League softball representing First Church of God. He was a member of the 1958 Continental Can's district All Star team traveling to Great Bend for the state tournament. Bob played in the Industrial Basketball League and Church Basketball League here in Coffeyville for many years. Bob owned and operated the Campbell Farms with son Tony since coming to Coffeyville. Beginning in 1984 he owned and operated Morrow Foundry Inc. with his Brother George selling in 1997. Campbell was instrumental in putting together a group of stockholders to buy SEK Grain and was President of SEK Grain Inc. until 1995. Bob continued to farm until his death. Survivors include son Tony and wife Becky; Daughters: Becky and husband Steve White, Carla and husband Dean LeLaCheur all of Coffeyville, Lori Campbell of Claremore, OK and Chris Cole of Portland, OR. Brother George and wife Kathy Campbell of South Coffeyville, OK and Sister Wanda Morrow of Phoenix, AZ. Grandsons; Justin Campbell, Luke and Matt White, Jared and Tony Jones, Thomas Freedle and David Cole. Granddaughters; Lindsey Goodwin, Katy Campbell, Julie Jones, Heather Malone, Nicole Phelps and Michelle Cole. Great Grandsons; Axton Goodwin, Mason and Owen White and Timothy Phelps. Great Granddaughters; Jolie, Ava and Katelyn White, Lakin Freedle and Bailey Malone. Many nieces and nephews. Companion Judith Bloome of Coffeyville. Services will be held at the First Church of God 4th and Cline at 2:00 pm on Thursday February 3, 2011. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday February 2, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Church of God; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
