Coffeyville - Ruth Marie Brannam, 80, of Caney passed away Saturday morning, January 15, 2011, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK. She was born October 6, 1930, at Apache, OK to Grover and Martha (Reiss) Smallwood. Ruth grew up in Oklahoma completing her education at Duncan, OK. On October 10, 1947 she married Orville Weber at Borger, TX. In 1959, they moved to Caney where they made their home and raised their two children. They were later divorced. Ruth worked at Love's Cleaners, was office manager at Jiffy Mart, and for many years was a teller at Caney Valley National Bank. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Caney, Christian Women's Fellowship, Caney Historical Society, former Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. Ruth enjoyed cooking, reading, and sewing, during the Caney Centennial celebration she sewed many of the costumes that were worn. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Mann and husband, Harold of Coffeyville; one son, Dennis Weber and companion, Dr. Kelvin Beliele of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Martha Jean Schenk of Chickasha, OK, Jackie Wege of Lawton, OK, and Elizabeth Blankinship of Midland, TX; two grandchildren, Tamara O'Connor and husband, Casey of Lees Summit, MO, and Will Mann and wife, Tara of Overland Park, KS; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Grover Smallwood, Jr. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Caney, with Pastor Brad Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Caney First Christian Church. The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church in Caney, Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, or the Jane Phillips Medical Center Palliative Care Unit; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
