Obituary of Doris Booher

Sedan - Doris Booher, age 92, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born on September 21, 1918 in Cedar Vale, Kansas to U.S. and Gay (Turner) Cable. She received her education at Cedar Vale schools graduating from Cedar Vale High School. After high school she received her degree from the Wichita Beauty School in Wichita, Kansas. She lived in Chautauqua and Montgomery Counties her whole life. On May 28, 1937 she married Ernest J. Booher in Detroit, Michigan. They made their home in Sedan and Caney before coming back to Sedan in the late 1970's. They raised several foster children in Caney for a number of years. She worked as a beautician in Sedan for over fifteen years. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 23, 2005. She is survived by one sister; Betty and husband D.X. Smith of Albany, Oregon; Special Friends, Albert and Peggy Rump of Andover, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Earnest J. Booher, her parents, and one brother. The casket will be closed. Family and Friends may sign the register book Thursday and Friday, January 6-7, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Graveside Services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Reverend John Warring of the First Christian Church of Sedan officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Pleasant Valley Manor Activity Fund and those remembrances may be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
