Coffeyville - Gene Marsh, 80, of Coffeyville, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1930 at Chanute, KS to Jess and Susie (Petty) Marsh. Gene grew up and attended school in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. On October 4, 1952 he married Colleen King at Kansas City, MO. Following their marriage they moved to Coffeyville where Gene was a Laboratory Technician at Funk Mfg. now John Deere Coffeyville Works, where he worked until retiring in October 1992. He attended Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church. Gene enjoyed target shooting with handguns, fishing, hunting, bow hunting, reading and singing. Survivors include his wife, Colleen of the home; one daughter, Cindy Manley and husband, Chris of Edna; two sisters, Cleo Kimzey of Olathe, KS; Dorothy Plummer of Kermit, TX; three granddaughters, Sarah Bright of Franklin, KS, Shannon Manley of Edna, and Tanya Malone of Big Cabin, OK; and four great-grandsons. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
