Obituary of Kathalea Chancy

Coffeyville - Kathalea "Kay" Chancy, 85, of Edmond, OK, a former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away, Friday, December 31, 2010 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born August 31, 1925 at Chanute, KS to Lawrence and Willa (Brown) White. Kay grew up and attended school in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School. On October 10, 1944 she married Kenneth E. Chancy at Chanute. Following their marriage they made their home in Humboldt, KS until moving to Coffeyville in 1957. After her husbands death in March 2007 she moved to Edmond, OK. Kay was a member of Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville. She enjoyed cooking, bowling and playing bridge. Survivors include two sons, Gary L Chancy and wife Janice of Huntington Beach, CA, and Steven E. Chancy and wife Debbie of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Betty Whitaker of Melbourne, FL, and Wanda Cauble of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2010 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville with Rev. Gerald Morris of Grace Fellowship officiating. Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The casket will be closed.
