Sedan - Naomi Meek, age 89, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan. She was born on January 30, 1921 in Sedan, Kansas to Oscar and Martha (Wendt) Stephens. She grew up in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School. On December 31, 1967 she married Virgil Meek in Sedan. They made their home near Chautauqua until he preceded her in death on July 4, 1986. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Cedar Vale Hospital for Dr. Hayes for twenty eight years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Sedan. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and some really special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, and three sisters. The family has requested visitation before the funeral on Saturday. Church services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Sedan with Joe Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua, Kansas The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Pleasant Valley Manor Van Fund and these remembrances may be left in care of David W.
