George Wesley "Wes" Etheridge, 72, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 14, 1938 at Sugden, OK to George H. and Ella Ruth (Boyd) Etheridge. Mr. Etheridge grew up and attended School in Sugden and Ryan, OK. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force in January 1957 serving until receiving an honorable discharge in September 1958.
He married Aline Turner, and were later divorced.
On August 9, 1997 he married Barbara Romines at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Canton, KS where Mr. Etheridge was a truck driver. Following his retirement they continued to live in Canton until moving to Coffeyvile 2 years ago.
He was a member of the Church of God, and American Legion. Mr. Etheridge enjoyed fishing and doing automotive mechanic work.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; three sons, Gary Etheridge and wife Amy of Lehigh, KS, Mike Etheridge of Gardner, KS, and David Etheridge of Canton, KS; one brother, Wayne Etheridge of Waurika, OK; two sisters, Linda Larson of Inman, KS and Kathleen Steiner of Canton, KS; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2010 in the Lewark Church of God with Pastor Ernie Wright and Pastor J.D. Wright officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20 at the Veterans Patio in Fairview Cemetery. Following cremation inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the George W. Etheridge Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home.
