Rose Marie Apley, 70, of Coffeyville, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born February 10, 1940 at Oklahoma City, OK to George T. and Vera M. (Paterson) Carpenter. Rose grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Holy Name Catholic School, Roosevelt Junior High and Field Kindley High School graduating in 1958.
Rose worked at Rock-A-Chair, Restlawn Memorial Park, she was Office Manager for David Barnes at Graves Funeral Home for almost 20 years, before becoming Secretary at Holy Name Catholic Church where she worked nearly 20 years before retiring earlier this year.
In 1984 she married Harry "Hap" Apley. Following their marriage she lived in Arizona for a short time before returning to Coffeyville.
Rose was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and Altar Society.
In her spare time Rose enjoyed sewing, doing upholstery work, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Hap of the home; four sons, Bobby Tew of Fort Wayne, IN, Forrest Ulibarri of Orange Park, FL, Paul Ulibarri of Smyrna, DE, George Ulibarri of Coffeyville; one daughter, Heather Hirt of Hutchinson; two step-daughters, Karen Stoehr of Coffeyville, and Holly Apley of McCall, ID; one step-son, H. Scott Apley of Dickinson, TX; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Tom Carpenter.
A Rosary Vigil Service followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
