Coffeyville -
Robert D. Reedy, 84, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at his home near Angola.
He was born March 29, 1926 southwest of Altamont, KS to Forest and Ione (Carrico) Reedy. He grew up in the Edna and Angola area, attended school at Richland School north of Angola.
On November 28, 1948 he married Neva Harrison at the Methodist Parsonage in Edna, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in the Angola area where Robert farmed and was a cattleman.
Robert was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, served 19 years as a board member of Twin Valley Electric Cooperative, was a member of the Richland Grange serving two years as Master, and was a 4-H leader for several years. He loved spending time working on his farm and working with cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Neva of the home; one son, Steve Reedy of rural Coffeyville; one daughter, Kristi Reedy of rural Coffeyville; one sister, Phyllis June Payne of Bloomfield, NM; four grandchildren, Preston Hills, Brian Reedy and wife Lori, Adam Reedy, and Jayme Russell and husband Rick; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas Russell, Kolton Hall, Danielle Reedy, and Katie DeTienne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin sister, Roberta Reedy.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Angola United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Massey of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek Cemetery west of Bartlett, KS.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends at the Reedy home.
The family suggests memorials to the Edna Fire Department First Responders; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
