Coffeyville - Jimmy L. Bixby, 69, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014, at his home. He was born on September 26, 1944, in Coffeyville to Wilbur Gayle and Charlotte (Murphy) Bixby. Jimmy grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. In 1962 he joined the U.S. Navy serving until receiving his honorable discharge in 1966. On December 14, 1963, he married Linda Kay Mann at the First Baptist Church in Independence. Following their marriage they made their home at Naval Bases where Jimmy was stationed. After his discharge they made their home in Coffeyville where Jimmy was employed at Pressure Cast Products for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Kay Bixby of the home; one daughter, Tina Hannah and her husband Doug of Independence; and one granddaughter, Zoe Hannah of Independence. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sue Ann Smith. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville with Rev. Tim Sumner of Joplin, MO officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, and American Legion Post 20. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends at the Bixby home. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, or the charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
