Coffeyville - Earlene McCartney, 86, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, at her home. She was born May 18, 1924, at Grandview, Arkansas to Glen and Irene (Taylor) Purdy. When she was young her family moved to the Angola, KS area where she attended a rural school, she later attended Labette County High School in Altamont before attending Business School. On December 24, 1946 she married Clarence McCartney at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Earlene was a homemaker after her children were raised she worked in the shipping department at Automotive Control Corp. in Independence retiring in 1986. Her husband preceded her in death in 1988. Earlene was a longtime member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville, and TOPS. Survivors include five daughters, Glenda Yeubanks of South Coffeyville, OK, Dana Merry of Altamont, KS, Rowena Boydston of South Coffeyville, OK, Charita Males of Coffeyville, and Kathy Howe of Anniston, AL; daughter-in-law, Diane McCartney of Coffeyville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, David Eugene McCartney on March 19, 2002; and one sister Lois Blakeslee in April 2003. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. November 4, 2010 at the Central Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dan Strange and Rev. Dave Warren officiating. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery at Edna, KS. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Earlene's wishes were in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her memory to Central Church of the Nazarene; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
