Zelbert Levi "Pat" Hall, age 90, longtime Elk City resident, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services for Pat Hall will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the Church of the Nazarene in Elk City, with Pastor Larry Jordan of the Erie Federated Church, and Rev. Terry Marta of the Elk City Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Elk City Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Church.
The family has requested memorial contributions in Pat's memory be made to the Oak Hill Cemetery Association, and they made be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Pat Hall was born September 3, 1920, at Salt Creek, Chautauqua County, Kansas, to Bert R. and Grace (Shouse) Hall. He was raised on the family farm and attended the West Liberty schools.
On December 17, 1938, Pat married LaDornia Reed at Altoona, Kansas, and she survives at the home.
Pat would be best described as a farmer and mechanic. He operated a garage in Elk City and owned the area's first wrecker service, as well as a welding and backhoe business. He was the longtime sexton for Oak Hill Cemetery and did work in many other area cemeteries. He was a longtime stockman, maintaining the family farm in Chautauqua County. Pat was a longtime member of the Elk City, KS City Council, serving as mayor multiple times. He was the Elk City Fire Chief, and built the first Elk City Rural Fire Truck, which he regularly drove in the Elk City Settler's Days parade.
In addition to his wife, Pat Hall is survived by: A son, Larry Hall and his wife Gwen, of Midland, TX. A daughter, Jamie Blassingame and her husband Ron, of Salado, TX. One sister, Edythe Berry of Tulsa, OK. Five Grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
