Elmer Eugene "Butch" Blankinship, age 64, of Sedan, Kansas passed Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas.
He was born October 8, 1943 in Sedan, Kansas to Elmer H. and Magdalene (Miller) Blankinship. He was raised in Sedan and graduated from Peru High School in 1961. On May 28, 1965 he married Wanda Lee Warring in Sedan, Kansas.
He was a member of the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1971. He served as Chautauqua County Sheriff from 1976 to 1983. He also worked in the oilfield from 1984 until he retired in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Wanda of the home in Sedan, Kansas; his mother, Magdalene Fralick of Sedan, Kansas; two daughters, Patricia Wallrabenstein and her husband Russell of Winfield, Kansas and Debbie Kill and her husband Rick of Sycamore, Kansas; two sons, Justin Blankinship of Noblesville, Indiana and Bryan Blankinship and his wife Sheila of Sedan, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Kitiara, Erik and Kari Wallrabenstein, Christopher Blankinship and Emma Kill, Ashley Blankinship, Dalton and Koda Blankinship and one great-grandson, Damien Wallrabenstein.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, who passed away February 19, 1986.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Clayton Wilson officiating.
