Donald Eugene Coen, age 78, of Wamego, Kansas (formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas) passed away Wednesday morning, September 15, 2010 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Wamego, Kansas.
He was born May 16, 1932 in Independence, Kansas to Delta E. and Nora E. (Wright) Coen. He received his education in Independence, Kansas. He worked as a machinist for the Rockwell Company until his retirement on January 8, 1997.
He married Geneva Irene Watts and she passed away on March 2, 1984. He later married Bettie J. Svoboda and she survives.
He was a member of the UAW/C10 Local 952 of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife Bettie J. Coen of the home; three sons, James Coen and wife Janet of Coffeyville, Kansas, John Coen and wife Donna of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Terry Lynn Coen and wife Terry S. of Trinity, Texas; two step-daughters, Debbie Peddicord and husband Randy of Wamego, and Kim Dennis and husband David of Springfield, MO; one sister, Erma Stroble of Sycamore, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Coen.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor Richard Peckman of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign the register book on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has suggested memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society of Wamego and those contributions may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
