John E. Jackson, 89, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.
He was born November 19, 1920 at Barnsdall, OK to Newton C. and Rosetta E. (Stark) Jackson. He attended Kelly School in Oklahoma before moving with his family to Coffeyville where he attended Roosevelt Junior High, Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Junior College.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army fro September 1942 to October 1945.
John married Mary Edith Haygood, they were later divorced.
In February 1976 he married Dolly M. Wilson at Nowata, OK, she preceded him in death in 2001.
In March 2007 he married Eulene Twitchell at Coffeyville, she survives at the home.
John was employed at Nutrena Mills in Coffeyville for 28 years, before moving to Texas where he was Assistant Manager of Northwest Financial for 12 years. In 1985 he returned to Coffeyville and worked at Coffeyville Community College for 21 years, Windsor Place for 3 years, and Coffeyville Credit Bureau and Brown Mansion.
He was a longtime member of the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville.
Survivors include his wife, Eulene of the home; two daughters, Jolene Cowan of Caldwell, TX, and Judy Gosset of Kyle, TX; one son, Bob Jackson of Devers, TX; three step-daughters, Karen Moore of Wann, OK, Judy Raney of Liberty, KS, and Linda Deatherage of Coffeyville, one step-son Michael Twitchell of Coffeyville; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolly, two sons, Johnny Jackson, Jr., and Jerry Jackson, four brothers, and four sisters.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in the Lewark Church of God with Pastor Ernie Wright officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
