Coffeyville - Lillian P. Wade, 83, a longtime Havana resident passed away Tuesday morning, August 3, 2010 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born April 6, 1927 at Caney, KS to Otho Pearl and Bessie Nell (Whitson) Fletcher. Lillian grew up and attended school in the Caney area and graduated from Caney High School. On November 25, 1944 she married Clarence J.R. "Jake" Wade at Independence, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Caney until moving to Havana. Lillian worked and Dale's Cafe and Love's Cleaners until going to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Havana, she served as Postmaster for 26 years retiring in 1996. Mr. Wade preceded her in death in 1986 Lillian was a member of Havana United Methodist Church, after moving to Coffeyville she attended Westside Christian Church. She was active in T.O.P.S., the American Diabetes Association, and AARP, for many years she wrote the Havana Happenings for the Caney Chronicle. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and attending sporting events that her grandchildren were participating in. Survivors include one son, Richard Wade and wife Kay of Williamsburg, VA; two daughters, Peggy King of Thibodeaux, LA, and Vicky Carinder and husband Everett of Coffeyville; one daughter-in-law, Dana Wade of Tyro; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Fred Wade and Butch Wade. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. Burial will be in the Havana Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Westside Christian Church, Tyro Christian Church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
