Ronald R. Stapleton of Coffeyville, Kansas died July 4, 2010 in Coffeyville, KS. He was 72.
Ronald was born on December 4, 1937, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Johnny R. and Edith F. (Baker) Stapleton. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville. At the age of 14 he moved with his family to New Orleans, LA where he helped run a Dairy Queen. Around the age of 16 he again moved with his family to Jonesboro, AR, again helping run a local Dairy Queen. When he was 18 he moved back to Coffeyville with his family.
In 1956 he married Mary Belle Roberts. He and Belle left the Coffeyville area briefly so he could serve in the United States Army. After the service he and Belle made their home in Coffeyville and raised 3 children, Richard, Jerome and Rhonda. In 1960 he went to work with his parents running the family business, Stapleton's Products. In 1969 he and Belle bought a farm west of Coffeyville where they enjoyed raising horses, cattle and buffalo.
In 1974 the family business sold and he went to work as a pipe fitter until he retired in 1999. He and his wife Belle enjoyed gardening and traveling during their retirement years.
He is survived by his wife Belle, of the home; children, Richard & Donna Stapleton and Jerome & Becky Stapleton both of Coffeyville, KS and Daniel & Rhonda Baker of Edna, KS; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grand children; sister Rita Rae Dyer, Springtown, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jenny Stapleton.
Services will be held at the Dearing Christian Church, Dearing, KS on Friday, July 9th at 10 am. The family ask that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in lieu of flowers; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
