Obituary of Linda L. McCoy

Sedan - Linda Lea McCoy, age 65, of Peru, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2010 at the Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born on December 1, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas to Marshal and Mary (Darnall) Taylor. She attended Wichita North High School in Wichita, Kansas. She married David McCoy on July 19, 1960 in Hutchison, Kansas. They moved to Peru, Kansas in 1975, making their home there. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2001. She worked as a cook at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas for seven years before retiring due to her health. She was a member of the Jonesburg Church in rural Chautauqua, Kansas. She loved working in her yard and puzzles. She is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Brown and husband Tom of Peru, Kansas; four sons, Wayne McCoy and wife Michelle of Inola, Oklahoma, Richard McCoy and wife Jennifer of Chautauqua, Kansas, Larry McCoy and wife Lori of Valeda, Kansas and Dale McCoy of Peru, Kansas; one brother, Jack Taylor of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Eutreva Wren of Springfield, Missouri; twenty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David McCoy and one grandchild. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Larrie Adams officiating. Interment will follow at the El Cado Cemetery in rural Niotaze, Kansas. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
