Obituary of Gary Dale Baunhofer

Coffeyvillle - Gary Baunhofer, 62, of Coffeyville, KS, died, Thursday, January 10, 2008, at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Gary was born, June 13, 1945, in Chetopa, to William Charles and Catherine Vera Pearl (Jacobs) Baunhofer. He attended school in Chetopa, KS until his graduation in 1965. He entered the U.S. Army in 1965 and drove a commencary truck out of Kaiserslaughten, Germany until his honorable discharge in 1967. After returning to the states, Gary worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS. On October 21, 1974, he married Cheryl Frisbie in Miami, OK and made their home in Coffeyville, KS. Gary has been a truck driver out of Coffeyville, KS for the past 35 years. FMC transport has been his employer for the last 13 years. Gary enjoyed flying airplanes and received his Private Pilots license in 1989. He was a weekend regular at the Coffeyville Municipal Airport where with his good friends he flew and worked on airplanes. Survivors include: his wife of the home; one daughter, Ashley (Baunhofer) Wilson of Neosho, Missouri; one son, Kyle Phelan of Afton, Oklahoma; two brothers Duwyane and wife Debbie Baunhofer and Darrell Baunhofer of Chetopa, KS. He has 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Two nieces: Courtney (Baunhofer) Greenlee of Cambridge, Illinois and Katrina Baunhofer of Chetopa, KS. He is also honored by other family members and close friends. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and sister-in-law Patricia Baunhofer. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January, 15 2008, at the Coffeyville Municipal Airport in Coffeyville, KS at the south end hanger. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 14th from 6-7 P.M at David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
