Jimmie Ray Ellis, 66, of rural South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at his home.
He was born June 16, 1943 at Foyil, OK to Hubert and Mary (Clemmer) Ellis. He grew up and attended school at Foyil, graduating from Foyil High School.
On June 21, 1981 he married Alice Wallace at Miami, OK. She preceded him death.
On November 23, 2002 he married Darlene O'Neill at Coffeyville. She survives at the home in rural South Coffeyville.
Jim was a machinist at McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Co. in Tulsa for many years. He also served as Principal at Greer Christian Academy in Chelsea, OK for one year.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville; he attended Promise Keepers and Cowboy Camp Meeting for several years. Jim was a member of the Lenapah Senior Citizens, and delivered meals on wheels.
Jim and Darlene went on visitations to four different nursing homes four days a week, and visited hospital two days a week. He also aided his neighbors in the relief effort following Hurricane Katrina.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Ellis of the home; sons, Jimmy Joe Ellis of Tulsa, OK, Harley Smith of Chelsea, OK, and Eddie O'Neill of Coffeyville; daughters, Vickie Nettles of Broken Arrow, OK, Deborah Reed of Foyil, OK, Gayle Smith of Foyil, OK, Susan James of Broken Arrow, OK, Karen Jackson of Claremore, OK, Alice Long, Peggy Wieneke, and Patty Long all of South Coffeyville, OK; brothers, Paul Ellis of Wichita, and Joe Ellis of Foyil, OK; sisters, Naomi Aday of Chanute, and Betty Ridenour of Miami, OK; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice, and one daughter, Brandy Ellis.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in the First Southern Baptist Church with Rev. James Riekeman officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
