Ronald Wayne Weimer, 59, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 10, 1950 in Coffeyville to Cecil V. and Ethel M. (Sisco) Weimer. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville.
In November 1975 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp serving until being honorably discharged in June 1982 with the rank of SSGT.
On February 14, 1977 he married Lucy Cape at Miami, OK. Following his discharge from the Marines they made their home in the Coffeyville area where Ron was a automotive mechanic working for Perl Chevrolet in Coffeyville and Roman's Chevrolet in Independence. He later was a truck driver until retiring due to his health. His wife preceded him in death on June 22, 2009.
He was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, a former member of the Edna Masonic Lodge and Mirza Temple in Pittsburg.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty Foster and husband Ed of Coffeyville; 3 step sons, Rick Kosty of Coffeyville, Walt Kosty of Oklahoma and Calvin "Sparky" Boyd, Jr. of Nebraska; one brother, Robert D. Weimer of Angola; three sisters, Nina Pringle of Edna, Carol Acridge of Edna, and Mary Jane Bromley of Coffeyville; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers William L. Weimer, Jeffrey Dale Weimer, and David Allen Weimer.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, KS with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1022 and American Legion Post #20.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriners' Crippled Childrens Hospital; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
