Coffeyville - Connie Jean Heady Layton, 60, of Catoosa, OK formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 from injuries received in a fire at her home. She was born December 2, 1949 at Coffeyville Bill Rogers and Lucille (Kindrick) Heady. She grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. Before moving to Arkansas in 1996, Connie was employed as Life Style Editor at the Coffeyville Journal and later worked at Arabian Horse Express in Coffeyville. In 1998 she moved to the Tulsa, OK area. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville and was a member of AARP. Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Mark Layton of Catoosa, OK; three sons, Bill Miller of South Coffeyville, OK, John Miller of Catoosa, OK, and Danny Miller and wife Carol of Ozark, AR; one daughter, Candace Crawley of Albemarle, NC; one brother, Clay Heady of New Bern, NC; one sister, Crystal Proman of Coffeyville; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild and one niece. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Diane Massey officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may sign the register book on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
