Linn Emerson Graue, 88, passed away June 3, 2014. He was born in Bartlett, Kansas on April 2, 1926, to Bertha (Ihrig) Graue and Alexander Graue. He attended school at Bartlett Elementary and then Labette County High School. He left high school to enlist In the US Air Force in 1944. He went through basic training in Denver, Colorado and then was stationed in Ardmore, Oklahoma and Laredo, Texas before deploying to Guam. He was a tail gunner on a Bomber during the war. He was released from the army and came home in 1946.
He married his sweetheart Peggy Triebel on April 9, 1945 in Chetopa, Kansas. They lived in Ardmore and Laredo while in the Air Force then made their home in Oswego, Kansas for a few months. Then they moved to western Kansas when Linn was hired by Southwestern Bell telephone which later became AT&T. They moved to Coffeyville in 1950 and made it their home. Linn retired from AT&T in March of 1985.
Linn is survived by his wife Peggy and children Linda Dryden, Larry Graue (Anita) and Debbie Owen (Steve). His grandchildren Justin Dryden (Andrea), Rebecca Doering (Vince), Larrisa Bennett (Brian), Faith Graue, Lisa Kuehn (Keith), and Todd Hayes (Lisa) and several great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents Alexander and Bertha Graue, siblings Margaret Baird, Mae Peters, Harvey Graue, Son-in-law Sam Dryden, and grandchild Kevin Graue.
Linn enjoyed many days working on old cars and fishing at Grand Lake. He enjoyed puttering around and watching the deer and turkeys in his later years. He loved his family and having them close by to enjoy.
A memorial service will be held on June 16, 2014, at the Dearing Christian Church at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Harry Hynes Hospice in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Road Coffeyville, KS 67337.
