Coffeyville -
Doris P. Stanley, 89, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at her home.
She was born August 10, 1920 at Liberty, KS to Lawrence and Ida May (VanBuren) Hobson. She grew up and attended school in Liberty.
On October 3, 1942 she married Roy L. Stanley at Miami, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville area moving to their home in the Old Parker area in 1944. Mr. Stanley preceded her in death on October 27, 1985.
Mrs. Stanley was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church where she she was active as a Sunday school teacher and other church groups, a member of the Old Parker Ladies Aide, EHU and Jayhawker Sam's camping group.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Benning of Coffeyville, and Marlene Green of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one great-grandson.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2010 in the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc., the First Southern Baptist Church, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
