Sedan - Howard W. Life, age 90, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma (formerly of Sedan, KS) passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born October 30, 1919 in Haysville, Kansas to Joseph and Goldie (Snell) Life. He was the 9th of ten children. He attended and graduated from Derby High School in Derby, Kansas. He married Almeda Lucille Stenson on January 6, 1941 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He served as a machinist in the United States Navy during World War II and served at Mare Island, California from March, 1942 through November, 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He was employed 38 years by the Coleman Company in Wichita, Kansas as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He moved to Sedan, Kansas in 1989 and lived here until moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 2007. He served as a Boy Scout Leader in Wichita, was a 50 year member of the Wichita Scottish Rite and was also a member of the Vesper Olive Blue Lodge in Sedan, Kansas. He was a loving husband and father. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and visiting with friends. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Life of the home and his daughter, Judy and husband Gayle Mollencamp, both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence, Noel, Paul and Orville (Ike) and five sisters, Dora, Garnett, Mildred, Merle and Pauline. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan with Reverend Jerry Bever officiating. A graveside service will follow the same day at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, Kansas at 3:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Sedan and these remembrances may be left in care of the David W.
