Alvin Kent Kinney, age 47, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his residence in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He was born May 31, 1962, in Coffeyville, KS, to Lavonia (George) and Richard P. Kinney. He married Lori Weber and they later divorced. He worked for Powells Transformers in Washington, Missouri.
He is survived by one son, Preston Kinney of Coffeyville, Kansas; one daughter, Angela Douglas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his mother, Lavonia Kinney of Coffeyville, Kansas; two brothers, David Kinney of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Ray Kinney of Coffeyville, Kansas; one half sister Sharon Simmons of Earlton, Kansas; one grandson, Lucas Kinney of Nowata, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Kinney and two half brothers, Keith and Michael Kinney.
Family and Friends may call on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Church services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville with Reverends Josh Thayer and J.D. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge in Kansas City, Missouri or the Lewark Church of God and those memorials can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
