Chester L. Scott, 69, of Dearing, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 14, 1941, at Coffeyville to Orval Chester and Lucy Elizabeth (Killion) Scott. He grew up in the Dearing and Coffeyville area attending elementary school in Dearing and Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.
Chester served in the U.S. Army, following his discharge he served in the National Guard retiring after 20 years of duty.
On April 23, 1960, he married Judith Coble at Hutchinson, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Dearing. Chester worked at Sherwin-Williams in Coffeyville, ACC in Independence, and was a jailer at the Montgomery County Jail.
He was a member of the Dearing Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, past Commander of V.F.W. Post #1022, Sons of the Confederacy, Special Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, Coffeyville Police Department Reserve, and Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 AF and AM
Survivors include his wife, Judith of the home; three sons, David Scott of Independence, Mark Scott of Dearing, and John Scott of Neosho, MO; one sister, Sandy Benning of Coffeyville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Dearing Christian Church in Dearing with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20, and Masonic rites conducted by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 AF and AM.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
