Helen A. Webster, 89, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Asbury Village in Coffeyville.
She was born September 28, 1920 in Nowata County, Oklahoma to John and Mary (Haynes) Purkey. She grew up on the family farm in Nowata County receiving her elementary education in rural schools, and graduated from Lenapah High School in Lenapah, Oklahoma.
Helen was employed at Kirby Shoe Store and Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, OK. In the mid 1960's she went to work at RX Pharmacy where she was employed until retiring in 1987.
She married Jim Webster and he preceded her in death.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, a 50 year member of Order of Eastern Star, and Past President of the Book Review Club.
Survivors include one sister, Madeline Moore and her husband Leo of rural Coffeyville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Collins and Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery at Lenapah, OK.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
