Lewis Mann, Jr. passed away at his home, Monday morning, November 25, 2013 at the age of 78. He was born February 28, 1935 at Enid, OK to parents Lewis and Agnes Mann.
He married Shirley Nell Michael on August 7, 1955. They celebrated 58 years of marriage this past summer. He grew up in Lamont, OK and always appreciated his small town upbringing. He majored in Physical Education fulfilling his ambition to coach athletics, even though he couldn't play sports in high school due to a heart murmur. He then coached in several small towns before moving up to the junior college level at NCCJC in Chanute, KS. There his basketball teams excelled and set many records.
After moving from the school setting, he and Nell operated a pizza restaurant for several years before he returned to education as an administrator. In the last few years, he enjoyed writing books about his high school days, the first of which has been e-published.
He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville.
He is survived by his wife, Nell; three children, Brad Mann and wife Pam, Monte Mann and wife Cindy, and Melissa Phillips. Grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brady Mann, Stephanie and Christopher Mann, Cody and Joshua Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his only brother, Jerry Wayne Mann.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at Grace Fellowship. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
