JoLene Nielsen, 69, of Coffeyville, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. JoLene was born on May 1, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to William and Norma (Ingram) Burroughs. She graduated from Valley Center High School in 1964. On April 29, 1994 she married for all time and enternity Warren Nielsen at Church of Jesus Latter Day Saints Dallas Temple in Dallas, Texas. They made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Goddard, Kansas before moving to Coffeyville in 2004. JoLene was the Director of Operations for New York Life Insurance Company, where she worked for over 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was also the Director of the Family History Center of the Independence, Kansas Ward. JoLene enjoyed fishing, reading mystery novels and was a big sports fan, espcially basketball. She also loved watching her son Jason race in Wichita. She is survived by her husband Warren Nielsen of the home, her mother Norma Burroughs, one son Jason Layman of Wichita, Kansas; two step daughters, Diana Lynn (Chris) Harrison of Birmingham, Alabama an Leslie Suzanne (Jeff) Bryant of Wetumka, Alabama; one step son, Barry LeRey (Debbie) Nielsen of Fredrickburg, Virginia; one sister, Vicki (Ed) Skaggs of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, William (Brenda) Burroughs, Jr. of Dearing, Kansas and numerous grandchildren, neices and nephews and one great-granddaughter She is preceded in death by her father, William Burroughs. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday June 1, 2015 at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 507 Mulberry, Independence, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the church. Burial will follow at Edna Elm Grove Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. The family suggest memorial to the Church of Jesus Christ Ladder Day Saints Missionary Fund; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed to c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Rd, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
