Jerald Kenneth Wilson, 70, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at his home. He was born September 17, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Billy Gerald and V. Lucile (Tarr) Wilson. Jerald grew up and attended school in Woodward, Iowa. Jerald was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. On April 21, 1987, he married Melissa "Missy" Waltrip in Miami, OK. Following their marriage they lived in Woodward, Iowa until returning to Coffeyville in 1992, where he worked for Sherwin-Williams as Safety Coordinator until retiring in April 2014. Jerald attended Eagle Rock Ministries in Coffeyville. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #33. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, but most of all loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Missy of the home; eight sons, Jason of Ankeny, IA, Shane of Brooklyn, IA, Mark of Waverly, IA, David, Billy and Randy all of Des Moines, IA, Ryan of Parsons, KS, and Kenneth of Independence, KS; one daughter, Kayla Wilson of El Dorado, KS; his mother, V. Lucile Wilson of Woodward, IA; fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Pastor Brendt Wills officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to Disabled American Veterans Chapter #33 or Eagle Rock Ministries; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
