Lela May (Thompson) Froebe, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Windsor Place. She was a resident of Coffeyville. She was born to Grace C. and Grover L. Thompson in Kansas City, MO on May 13, 1931. Lela was raised in Cherryvale, KS and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Bill J. Froebe on August 20, 1950 in Cherryvale. To this union were born two children, Beverly in 1952 and Don in 1954. Bill preceded her in death on January 31, 2003. Lela was employed a few years at Reliance in Cherryvale. The moved to rural Independence where Bill worked at the Pump Station on 10th Street Road. She later worked for Ecklin Manufacturing in Independence and then at Automotive Control for 26 years, retiring in 1993. They moved to Coffeyville in 1996. Lela loved her family and she loved to visit with friends. Se especially enjoyed looking through her high school yearbooks. Crosswords and Word Finds were her favorite hobbies, along with short car rides with her devoted son, Don. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Beverly (Gary) Williamson of Humble, TX, Don Froebe of Coffeyville, grandchildren, Amanda (John) Stork of Coldspring, TX, Aubrey Williamson of Lufkin, TX, Tiffany Willlard, and Misty and Rudy Guerrero; great-grandchildren, Madison and James Stork, and very dear friend Rhonda Craven; several nieces and nephews; and her two "babies" Mouse and Sonshine. Preceding her in passing were her parents, brother, Howard Lipps, Vincent Clark, Lark Thompson and Lyle Thompson; and sisters, Leola Lipps, and Caroline Jones. Services celebrating Lela's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Diane Massey officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Cherryvale, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, January 27th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To leave a message for the family please visit www.dwbfh.com. David W.
