Obituary of Louis J. Bustos

Bustos, 84, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on May 29, 1933, at Independence, KS to Isaac and Valentina (Honesto) Bustos. Louie grew up and attended school in Independence graduating from Independence High School.
Louie was veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from September 23, 1953, until receiving his honorable discharge on September 22, 1955. After receiving his discharge he returned to Kansas wheree he attended Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS for 3 ½ years.
On June 12, 1957, he married Patricia D. Bright at Fredonia. Following their marriage they lived in Pittsburg while Louie attended College until moving to Coffeyville where he worked for the City of Coffeyville as Purchasing Agent at Coffeyville Light and Power until retiring after 40 years of service. They were later divorced.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022. When he was younger he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, he also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, golfing and fishing. But most of all loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, David Bustos and wife, Robin of Coffeyville, and Robert Bustos of Delaware, OK; one daughter, Stephanie Meyer of Orlando, FL; his former wife, Patricia D. Bustos of Orlando, FL; two sister, Amelia Carr and husband, Mike of Independence, KS, and Delphina Sevadra and husband, Johnny of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Jarrett Bustos.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church.

Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
