Frances Ellen Welsh, 83, of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home in the country, due to natural causes.
Frances was born on June 29, 1930 in Coffeyville to Clyde Sherman and Frances Rose (Andrews) Nash. She attended Holy Name Catholic School thru 8th grade, graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1948, and Coffeyville Junior College in 1950.
Frances began working for her family from 1944 to 1950 at Andrews Grocery Store. After graduating from Coffeyville Junior College she went to work for Dr. Wilson in the lab at Coffeyville Memorial Hospital from 1950 - 1959. She began working for Dr. C.R. Dickinson in 1959 where she worked until his retirement, and then worked for Dr. Phillip Middleton from 1985 - 1992. After retirement, Frances continued her volunteer at her church and "run the streets" of her hometown checking on those around her.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Frances enjoyed bowling with her friends in several leagues throughout her life and playing cards with the ladies of her card club. Genealogy was also a passion she shared with her cousins and family.
Frances was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Altar Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Faith and Light, and the Harvest House.
Frances married Glenn F. Welsh on April 5, 1951 in Gravette, AR. Glenn preceded her in death on August 23, 2008.
Survivors include her children, Debbie and Scott Blaness of Lake Crystal, MN, Denise and Robert York of Coffeyville, Glenn "Buck" and Barb Welsh of Mosinee, WI, and Diane and Richard George of Coffeyville; fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law, Sharon (Welsh) and Joe Ray and family, and Glenda Nash and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Catherine Nash and Alice Nash, two brothers, Sherman Nash and Dick Nash, and a granddaughter, Heather Spears.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 26, 2014 at Holy Name Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Altar Society, or Faith and Light; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
