Dear Susan, Lisa, Leslie, John, and Anne,
I'm so glad so many of you were with your mom as she slipped out of her body and into heaven. I too remember Aunt Nell as so beautiful, and your home as so elegant. I remember the Scottsdale house with white plush carpet and a grand piano. Aunt Nell was the person who taught me back in the 1950s that you can freeze milk in order to always have it on hand. I think of her every time I freeze milk, or get frozen milk out of the deep freeze. She was also the first person I ever knew who had a swimming pool in the back yard, and I was so proud to have an aunt and uncle with a pool. Your mom made me feel special when I visited, and she sure knew how to put on a beautiful and delicious dinner. She always seemed so connected to her faith, so I know she is glowing and grinning and having a great time now. Blessings to each of you kids at this time.
Hank & I just moved to Corpus Christi, TX, and we are thrilled that we will be driving to Coffeyville to represent our Flanagan family (Patty, Judy, & Mary) Friday and Saturday. (Susan, I will always appreciate that you and Aunt Nell drove to Stephenville for Mom's memorial service.) Hank & I will seeyou all soon.
Love, Janie Flanagan Portele (254-967-2384)

Dear Susan, Anne, John, Leslie, and Lisa,
I send my love and sympathy on the death of Aunt Nell. I was a flower girl at her wedding, and like my sister Judy, I will always remember her as lovely and glamorous. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend her memorial services.
Sincerely,

Dear Susan, Leslie, Anne, and John,
Don't know if you remember, but your Dad was my God Father, so I always felt specially connected with your family. As a child and young adult, being around Uncle Bill and Aunt Nell I always felt they were glamorous. Aunt Nell had long evening dresses, and stories about traveling all over the world.
May your mom rest peacefully, now.
Much love to each of you.
Judy

Dear Susan, Lisa, Anne, Leslie & John,
My heart is with you all. I have wonderful memories of your Mom, Dad and Susan during our visit to Scottsdale, AZ in the late 50s. More connections when Lisa came to spend a school year with us in Houston in the mid 60s. Janie, Mom and I visited her in Coffeyville sometime around 2003. And, it meant so much to our family to see Susan and Aunt Nell at our Mom's memorial service in Stephenville, TX.
She married a great guy. She survived his early death and went on to raise some wonderful kids. I am so grateful that many of you were able to be with her as she passed. Thank you for staying connected.
Cousins are important!
Your Mom had a spirit and a strength that got her through so many things.
May you find comfort in the memories of her strength.
I am so sorry I will be unable to be in Coffeyville this weekend. Know that my heart and prayers are with you all.
Much love to each of you
Mary

Nell and I were in the class of '42 at Field Kindley in Coffeyville.
That's the class that has had more reunions than any other. We obviously got along very well and loved getting together through the years. When seeing Nell you were always greeted with a huge smile
and a message to cheer the heart. A delightful lady that will truly be missed by many.
