Coffeyville - Fern Schnoor, 95, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday November 11, 2012 at the Medicalodge of Coffeyville. She was born September 7, 1917 to Fred and May (Tindle) McGinnis in rural Wilson County, where she grew up and attended school in the rural Wilson County area. On October 9, 1935 she married Arthur Schnoor in Yates Center. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Elk City. After her husbands death in 1952, she moved to Neodesha, where she worked at the Green Lantern Cafe and the Burger Hut. In 1968 she moved her family to Coffeyville, shortly after the move she opened the Queen's Choice where she worked at for 25 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in LaFontaine, KS. Fern enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and crocheting, but most of all she loved doing what she does best, working. She is survived by two sons, Richard Schnoor and wife Donna of Coffeyville, and John Schnoor of Coffeyville; two daughters, Colleen Berkstresser and husband Dwight of Coffeyville, and Judy Bishop and husband Jim of Perry, KS; four sisters, Georgie Hendry of Peck, KS, Kay Harvey of Kansas City, MO, Bella Snyder of Virginia, Freddie Sizemore of Neodesha; six grandsons, Bill Berkstresser of Kansas City, MO, Mike Schnoor of Coffeyville, Joel Bishop and wife Elisha of Olathe, Phillip Berkstresser of Neodesha, Joe Berkstresser and wife Valeria of Afton, OK, and Steven Berkstresser and wife Kelinda of Kingwood, TX; three granddaughters, Sharolyn Marvin and husband Jim of Topeka, Terri Clapp and husband Scott of Topeka, and Angela Hardy of Olathe; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two step- great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Schnoor, parents, one sister; Polly McCabe of Elk City, three brothers; Gene McGinnis of Fredonia, Jack McGinnis of LaFontaine, Wayne McGinnis of LaFontaine and one granddaughter; Artha Berkstresser Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Lafontaine with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home The family suggests memorials to the Shriner's Hospital or Meals on Wheels; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
