Obituary of Stella Marie Bowen

Sedan- Stella Marie Bowen, 87, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born January 12, 1925, in Chautauqua County, Kansas to Leo "Chili" Duggan and Pearl (Riley) Duggan. She attended High Rock School and Caney Valley School before graduating from Sedan High School. On December 31, 1955, she married Charles Bowen in Chautauqua, Kansas. They lived in Chautauqua County most of their life. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 29, 2000. After Charles's death she moved to Pleasant Valley Manor where she has been a resident for the past eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by one son; James Ray "Jim" Bowen of Lafontaine, Kansas; ex-daughter-in-law Donna Rozell and husband Mike of Winfield, Kansas; two grandchildren, Zackary Bowen and Breann and husband Kevin Schoon; two sister-laws, Frances Seaman and husband Doyle of Mulvane, Kansas and Jessie Latta of Moore, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Cemetery east of Sedan, Kansas with Reverend John Warring of the First Christian Church officiating. Family and friends may call on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. The family has suggested memorials to the Pleasant Valley Manor Activity Fund and can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
