Coffeyville - Glenn Francis Hayden, Jr., 65, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 2, 1947 to Glenn, Sr. and Coila "Bootsie" (Metzen) Hayden at Oswego, KS. Glenn spent his early childhood in Chetopa where he attended school before moving to Coffeyville where he attended Longfellow school and graduated from Field Kindley High School. He continued his education attending Pittsburg State University and St. Gregory's College in Shawnee, OK where he played basketball. Glenn was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam War. On August 8, 1969 he married Patsy Hicks in Coffeyville. They made their home in Coffeyville. Glenn worked for the Railroad, before working for the City of Coffeyville, where he held numerous positions. He enjoyed fast pitched softball, golfing and coaching. He is survived by two sons; Chad Hayden and wife Stacy; and Matt Hayden and wife Shelley both of Coffeyville; and two grandchildren; Lindsey and Drake Hayden. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents. The time of the Memorial Service Celebrating Glenn's life has been changed to 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Lake Creek Cemetery, west of Bartlett with Rev. Daniel Knight officiating. Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Coffeyville City Recreation, or the Boys and Girls Club; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
