Coffeyville - Henry Lawrence Millen, 59, of Coffeyville, KS, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1954, in Butler, PA to John Jacob and Mary Ellen (Henry) Millen. He grew up and attended school in Butler PA, graduating from Butler High School. He also graduated from Butler County Community College in Butler, PA and received his Bachelor's Degree in Music from Grove City College in Grove City, PA. Henry earned his Master Degree in Organ Performance from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. He moved to Coffeyville in 1976 and began a long career as Band Director and Music Instructor at McKinley School and Roosevelt Middle School, during his teaching career he taught music in all the elementary schools in U.S.D. #445. In 1978, Henry married Faye Bolton at Grove City, PA. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Henry attended the First United Methodist Church where he was the organist. He was also active with the Habitat for Humanity Board, Coffeyville and Independence Community Bands, both playing and directing, and the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra. He is survived by his wife, Faye, his mother, Mary Ellen of Butler, PA and one brother, Jay Millen of Sims, FL. He was preceded in death by his father. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, KS with Pastor Nicole Schwartz officiating. The Family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. at the church. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family has suggested memorials to the Bartlesville Symphony or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, contributions may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS.
