Jann Denise Brownlee, 60, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday March 14, 2012 at her home.
She was born May 19, 1951 at Bartlesville OK, to Floyd and Naomi (Hale) Heslop. She grew up and attended schools at Independence. After graduating from Independence High School she went on to Pittsburg State University getting her degree in elementary education. Jann continued her education by earning a Master's degree in education.
On August 19, 1972 she married Gene Brownlee at Independence. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they both taught school. Jann taught school for many years teaching at Caney, Edna, Longfellow, Garfield and Community Elementary.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, NEAC, and Red Hats, she also volunteered with the Salvation Army. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her husband Gene Brownlee of the home, one son James Brownlee and wife Becca of Joplin MO, her mother Naomi Heslop of Coffeyville, one brother Jeff Heslop of Mason OH and three grandchildren; Nikki, Michael and Vincent Brownlee.
Services will at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the First Southern Baptist, with James Rickeman. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
