If there is a picture beside the expression "salt of the earth" it would be Leah Mae. She was our neighbor, my parents friend, and my 2nd mom. She taught me Sunday school, how to embroidry (though I wasn't crazy about it), how to snap green beans correctly, how to loom pot holders. She took us girls to town for trick or treating and to church Guild meetings. I rode the bus to her house with the girls when mom & dad were going to be in the fields late. I had a WONDERFUL time with Leah Mae. She taught me about being good and honest. About God. I have so many good memories! I recall some of them almost every day as I walk down the stairs of my house and see the quilt she made hanging in my entry way. I am blessed and hopefully a better person becuse of her. Thank you God, Kenneth, Sherri, Susan, and Melinda for sharing her with me.
