Coffeyville - Doris Anne Armstrong, 75, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born July 6, 1936 at Le Mars, Iowa to Alfred Victor DeRaad and Virla Elizabeth (Cook) DeRaad. She grew up and attended school in Seney, Iowa graduating from Seney High School. After high school she moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where she attended Coffeyville Community College. On May 22, 1964 she married Harold Armstrong in Coffeyville where they made their home for the past fifty years. On April 21, 1985 she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Armstrong Mrs. Armstrong worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier for the last thirteen years. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed working in her yard, flowers, liked to read and do word search puzzles, and also liked to watch John Wayne Westerns; but most of all she loved her kids and grandkids. Survivors include one daughter; Denise Gates and husband Juggy of Coffeyville, Kansas, two sons; Darwin Cuthrell of Coffeyville, Kansas and David Armstrong of Coffeyville, Kansas; six grandchildren, John Gates, Michel Gates, David Armstrong Jr., Chad Armstrong, Sandra Cuthrell, Michelle Armstrong; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one grandchild. Church services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville with Reverends Ford Hall and David Warren officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville to sign the register book. The family will reciece friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 at the funeral home. The casket will be closed.
