JoAnn Cook, 57, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born August, 28, 1953 at Dodge City, KS to Paul and Eleanor (Hageman) Glenn. JoAnn grew up in Dodge City where she attended Sacred Heart School, and graduated from Dodge City High School, Dodge City Community College, and attended St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City.
While growing up she was very active in 4-H at Dodge City.
On February 15, 1975 she married Daryl Cook at Dodge City, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Hutchinson until moving to Coffeyville in 1978. After moving to Coffeyville JoAnn enjoyed doing child care until going to work for Tri-County Special Education where she was a speech paraprofessional for 30 years at U.S.D. #445 at the time of her retirement earlier this year she was working at Community Elementary in Coffeyville. She also was a shift leader at the Coffeyville Pizza Hut, and had worked part time at Royal Pontiac.
She served as Longfellow PTA president, was a member of the Jaycette's, and. secretary of the Friday night mixed bowling league. JoAnn enjoyed crocheting, and needle point, and loved spending time with her family going camping in their new camper.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl Cook of the home; one son Toby Cook of Coffeyville; her mother, Eleanora Glenn of Dodge City; one brother, Larrry Glenn of Quinter, KS; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Kinley, Kaylor, and Kalob Cook all of Coffeyville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Glenn; and one brother Eldon Glenn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Following JoAnn's wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign the register book on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Tatman Cancer Center at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
