Coffeyville - Briar Allen Palmer, 20, of Mound Valley, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Wilson County near Fredonia. He was born November 15, 1990 at Coffeyville to Robert and Kandy (Sutton) Palmer. Briar grew up in Labette County, attending school at Mound Valley and graduating from Labette County High School in 2009. He was currently a student at Labette County Community College in Parsons. Briar was a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart Super Center in Parsons. He was a member of the Mound Valley Christian Church, Briar was active in basketball, softball and coaching Little League. He was very active in supporting the Mound Valley Community, loved working with people of all ages, and was known for always greeting people with a smile. When he wasn't working he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Survivors include his father, Robert Palmer of the home; one brother, Blake Palmer of the home; his maternal grandparents, Betty and Lonnie Holley of Harper, KS; his paternal grandparents, Roger and Donna Palmer of rural Edna; aunts, Angie Palmer of Caney, KS; Jo Marie Montemurno of North Mankato, MN, Cathy Sergo of Thornton, CO, and Saba Gregory of Newkirk, OK; uncles, Louis Sutton of Savannah, MO, and John Sutton of Summerville, S.C.; his girlfriend Amanda Kolb of Arizona; many great-aunts, great-uncles; and cousins. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Parsons Municipal Auditorium, 112 South 17th St. Parsons, KS with Rev. Brett Rousselle and Rev. Travis Modesitt officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery at Mound Valley, KS. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville; and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parsons Municipal Auditorium. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Mound Valley Christian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
